Ping. Not just for Pong anymore!

Are you having trouble keeping all of those little status updates current? I mean, really – there’s Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Myspace… and it never ends! By the time you update your third website, the first one is already outdated!

There have been a lot of new widgets and applications that you can add to your blog, website and other social media places that will feed directly from your twitter account – but some are still incompatible, like LinkedIn.

So what’s a gal to do? Check out ping.fm! Ping is a free service which allows users to post to multiple social sites simultaneously.

As social media grows in popularity, more of these “hybrid” sites are popping up, allowing us to pull all of our other websites together with one simple interface. Ping is one of the most inclusive sites, with the easiest level of usage and broadest range of coverage.

You send your update via your phone, email, or other app, and it updates all of your sites! They have a household of 40 social media sites that accept status updates, and they update every single one of them that you have an account with, even your blog!

It’s easy to set up, too. You just create a login and add the sites you use to your network. It will ask for your username and password for each site to give it access – so if you’re squeamish about that kind of stuff, fair warning.

Once you add all your networks, you can also create groups of them to update at a time. So maybe I have a social group that will update my personal blog, facebook and Delicious account, or a professional group that only updates my LinkedIn, business website, and company twitter account.

Sure, it’s one more thing to log in to – but to cut back on all the other sites I have to remember to update – very useful! Especially when you’re struggling to find the time to keep everything current. Having status updates on a regular basis reminds everyone that you’re still alive and kicking!

Another great highlight – is that you can actually update your blog directly from this site! It really let’s you do it all! You just register your blog to the network, same as you did with the social sites, and instead of updating to your statuses, just change it to blog and write your blog entry!

There’s a ton of great topics on the Ping Blog that you can check out if you have questions about how any of it works!

I know social media can be overwhelming at timesĀ - but Ping helps you keep everything in perspective and give yourself a little extra time for your business!
