Wise Up to Wireless

Many cell phones have the ability to navigate you through GPS, find a restaurant near you to eat, make appointments, take videos, listen to music, and even watch TV!

Social networking is all about time and communication – 2 things that cell phones have made so much easier. Many people are in a hurry now-a-days (who isn’t?), and cell phones have the ability to help keep you updated when you’re on the go. You can send e-mails through your phone to important clients or schedule an important meeting that you can’t forget in your phone’s calendar. You can even use the internet on your phone, whether it is looking up information or just checking your Facebook. There are many applications a phone can offer, but everything comes with a price.

So no matter who your carrier, here are a couple of great options for keeping you in the loop while you’re on the go!

The Texting Guru

Used to typing on a keyboard and not the little numbers on your phone? Tired of T9 word guessing? You’ll want to try out a phone that offers a QWERTY keyboard. These keyboards are identical to your computer keyboard and make texting much easier.

The Facey-Space Junkie

Social networking websites your thing? You’ll want a phone with a great data-plan, nice sized viewing screen and easy maneuverability to access all of your favorite social media mobile sites, like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.  Phones that can use applications are a great tool for you to keep all of your favorite sites at your fingertips. These all use quick touch-screen displays with smooth transitions from one application to another. These phones also have great camera/camcorder options for updating your mobile photos, Loopt statuses, TwitPic, Facebook walls and YouTube channels!

The Rockstar

If music is your thing, you’ll want a phone that has great sound, easy accessibility to download ring-tones (and ringbacks) and can use media players. Plug in your headphones and you’re on your way! The iPhone has direct access to your iTunes music library. The HTC Touch Diamond has a high-speed data transfer, touch-screen and is small and compact for easy portability. The Samsung Instinct has full mutimedia functionality, live TV and stereo Bluetooth Wireless technology.

The Old-Timer

If making phone calls is still your cell-phone’s first priority, I recommend using a great flip-phone so you don’t suffer from “Face Hangup” (a common and quite incurable problem with the touch screen phones)! These phones have crystal clear sound, are easy to use and have the basics plus some extras – like phonebook, large display text, speaker phone, and ICE (in case of emergency) capability! Not to mention, these phones are super affordable when you just want what you need… and nothing else.

The New Guy

Overall, in my non-objective opinion, these brand new phones are heads and tails above the rest – and luckily, you can get yourself on a wait list for any one of them! The future of the cell phone is becoming more and more versatile, allowing you to text, call, facebook, blog and even track your friends faster every day. With 3G and, now 4G, networks, you can move at lightning speed! The idea is to stay in touch, even when you’re out of touch.
